Privacy Policy

Short version. The Angler app works with your screen on your Mac. It doesn't save or send what's on your screen, and it has no ads and no tracking. The app contacts our servers only to activate your license.

This website and the licensing step are the only places we handle any data, and only as described below.

1. The Angler app

Screen contents (Live Desktop mode). With your permission, Angler reads what's on your display so it can apply the effect. That's done on your Mac. Nothing is saved to disk and nothing is sent anywhere.
Wallpaper mode. Angler reads the image you pick so it can apply the effect. It stays on your Mac.
Lid angle. Read from the hardware sensor on your Mac. Not stored and not sent.
Settings. Your preferences are saved locally on your Mac. They aren't synced or uploaded.
No tracking. The app doesn't record how you use it, and it contains no ads or third-party trackers.

Trial & license activation. When you first open Angler, it sends a random installation ID (no key, and no personal information) to our backend to start your free trial. When you later activate a paid license, it sends your license key and that same installation ID to check the license and count activations, and it re-checks periodically so the app keeps working offline. It never sends your screen contents, your wallpaper, or your lid angle.

2. This website

Hosting. The site is served by a hosting provider, which may keep standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) to deliver the site and to keep it secure.
Analytics. This site uses Analytics to understand how visitors use it in aggregate, such as which pages are viewed and which buttons are clicked. The Analytics provider sets cookies and handles this data under its own privacy policy. We don't use it to identify you personally. You can decline cookies from the banner on the home page.
Fonts and scripts. The page loads a CSS framework from a content delivery network, so that request goes to a third party.

3. Payments

Angler is a one-time $5.99 purchase. Checkout is handled by a payment provider, which collects what's needed to process your payment (such as name, email, and card details) under its own privacy policy. We receive a record of the purchase and your email address so we can send your license key and provide support. We never see or store full card numbers.

4. What we don't do

We don't sell your data.
We don't upload, view, or store your screen, wallpaper, or files.
We don't use your data for advertising.

5. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the limited data we hold, which is your purchase record and any support emails. To make a request, contact us below. You can remove the app at any time by quitting it and moving it to the Trash, and you can revoke the screen recording permission in System Settings.

6. Children

Angler isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

7. Changes

If we change how data is handled, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
