What it does
A real fold, from your own hinge
The lid-angle sensor sets the angle, a Metal shader warps the picture, and progressive blur adds the depth. Pick your source and go.
Warps in Metal
A GPU shader moves pixels in a true projective transform, so your desktop holds its ground as the display tilts.
Blur and depth
Layered Gaussian blur softens the top edge more than the hinge, with vignette, desaturate, dim, and chromatic aberration on top.
Live Desktop
Warps your real screen with ScreenCaptureKit, live. Frames stay in memory and are never written to disk. Needs Screen Recording permission.
Uploaded Wallpaper
Point it at any PNG, JPEG, or HEIC and it warps that instead. Works fully offline, with no permission at all.

Is there a free trial?
Yes, a full-featured 24-hour trial, with no key and no card needed. When it ends, the effect locks until you enter a license key. Your settings stay put.
Which Macs work with Angler?
Almost every MacBook running macOS 13 or newer, Intel or Apple silicon. The lid angle sensor is built into MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models from 2019 onward, and Angler runs on all of them. If you are on macOS 13+, you are very likely already covered.
Does it record or upload my screen?
No. Everything happens on your Mac. In Live Desktop mode the screen frames are warped in memory, then thrown away. They are never saved to disk and never uploaded. Nothing about your screen, your wallpaper, or your lid angle ever leaves your computer.
Why does it ask for Screen Recording?
Only Live Desktop mode needs it, so it can read your desktop and warp it. Prefer to skip permissions entirely? Switch to Uploaded Wallpaper mode, where nothing is requested at all and the effect works exactly the same.
Can I still click my apps while it's on?
Yes. The overlay passes clicks through and never takes keyboard focus, so your real apps keep working underneath. Only the image is transformed, not the click targets.
How do I quit it?
Three ways: the menu-bar item's Quit Angler, the button in Settings, or the system-wide shortcut ⌃⌥⌘Q from anywhere, even with the overlay covering the screen. One key combo and it is gone.
Is it safe to run?
Yes. Angler runs entirely on your Mac and is notarized by Apple, so macOS checks it and opens it cleanly the first time. It only touches what the effect needs: the lid angle sensor and, if you use Live Desktop, the screen frames it keeps in memory. Nothing else.
